Dr. Kathleen Waguespack
Originally from Oregon, Dr. Kathleen joins the Washington Park Pediatric Dentistry team as a board-certified pediatric dentist near Bonnie Brae with nearly 20 years of experience.
Her decision to pursue dentistry began after taking a health occupations class in high school. Admiring the kind of work that doctors and their staff performed and the interactions they had with patients, she became interested in the dental field, specifically pediatric dentistry.
After enrolling at the University of Puget Sound for her undergraduate studies, she decided to enroll at Oregon Health Sciences University. She spent time working in public health before deciding to complete her pediatric dental certificate from Texas A&M College of Dentistry as well as her board certification.
Although her formal education is complete, she continues to pursue additional courses to refine her skills and further her knowledge about various aspects of pediatric dentistry. In addition, she is an active member of the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
When she’s not busy helping little smiles grow healthy and strong, you’ll find her spending time with her husband, two boys, and their chocolate Labrador, Brewski. She also enjoys fishing, hiking, and playing sports of all kinds. She also bakes and travels when she can.

Answers to Common Questions from Our Patients and Parents
How Can I Find the Best Pediatric Dentist Near Bonnie Brae?
Although many general dental offices invite younger patients to visit, taking your child there would deprive them of specialized care. Board-certified pediatric dentists like Dr. Patrick and Dr. Kathleen have gone through multiple years of extra intensive training specifically for developing smiles. They not only have a deeper understanding of issues for these age groups, but they also have much more experience working with young humans in their oral health and, therefore, have more expertise in teaching dental habits in fun and effective ways. At Wash Park Pediatric Dentistry, we have created the ideal setting for your child to establish a lifetime of strong smiles!
What Should I Do to Get My Child Emergency Dental Care?
Did you know that many urgent dental problems kids face may be preventable? If you can, it’s best to actively avoid dental emergencies through daily brushing morning and night, regular checkups and cleanings with our team, and having them wear a mouthguard when they play sports or activities where contact with the mouth may occur. Other lifestyle choices can preserve their teeth and spare them from unnecessary pain: less sugar every day; drinking more water instead of juice, sports drinks, or soda; and learning to include flossing in their daily dental hygiene routine.
However, with kids, accidents and unexpected events happen! If your child experiences a dental emergency near Bonnie Brae, you can contact us right away. Our team will schedule you as soon as we possibly can (often on the same day as your call) to bring them relief quickly. Our pediatric dental practice is near Bonnie Brae, so you don’t have to drive far to repair your child’s teeth and get them smiling again.
How Can I Afford Dental Care for My Child without Dental Insurance?
Although dental insurance is the most common method for paying for dental care, it’s not the only way you can save on costs. At Wash Park Pediatric Dentistry, we realize some families have gig or freelance jobs or other situations where benefits aren’t available, which is why we have our own in-house Wellness Plan for patients. Depending on your child’s age, you can enroll them in an affordable plan that pays for essential preventive care including fluoride treatments, unlimited emergency visits, and a significant discount on other services.
Should I Bring My Teenager to a Pediatric Dentist? My Baby?
When you first come to our practice, it may seem geared more for younger patients, but we welcome teenagers up until they reach age 18. Although your teen may feel they are grown up already, their oral cavity may still be developing. As board-certified pediatric dentists, Dr. Patrick and Dr. Kathleen have been trained in issues specifically that teenagers face, like puberty and special needs. Plus, we find teenagers still enjoy our relaxed, friendly environment, even if they no longer play with toys!
On the other end of the age range, babies may need our services and expertise as well, especially if your infant has a lip or tongue-tie or you have questions about their oral development.
In other words, we can provide insight, treatment, and advice from birth to graduation!
